American Embassy

Just had to add, went to the American Embassy yesterday and it's embarrassing. By far the nicest, most modern building in Kigali and definitely among the largest. On the top of a hill with a huge American flag waving over the Rwandan capital. Over the top to say the least. Just food for thought.

Have at last sorted out the technology and now feel we are in contact. I feel I am at last coming up to speed (my speed, that is!).I sometimes think it easier to come to Kigali to speak to you - in English - not French.
Q. Is there any evidence of Belgian colonialism?
Weather here in Landrover country is pretty bleak - we are having our coldest winter for nine years.
Great hearing your news. Look forward to the next episodes.
You may avoid the hatching of your latrine wasps but I guess there will be other exciting adventures along the way!

Hi Claire. It is so nice having contact in this way, and I keep thinking about Grandpa's book from Kate "A Hill called Haycock" which is so good. Maybe your blogs and your photos will be a good book too? We love you and are really interested in what you are doing. If I were a fit 70, I'd love to do something like that. Our best wishes to your team and especially the 70 year old. I am off on my more sedentary adventure to Australia in April. Love from Shirley.

Classic...And people in this country wonder why we are hated so. However, I'm hoping you "checked in" with the good ol US of A. Take care and really looking forward to your next entry.
